Dear all,

This comming Saturday, the Bible Class is going to show a movie which
is about the Work of God in Ancient China. Towards the end of a busy
semester, we wish to bring you something more cheerful and refreshing,
yet it is also something very thought-provoking and inspirational. So
by all means please take a break and join us, the movie will only be
a little bit more than an hour, afterward it will be some refreshment
and causal time.

It has been long thought that the "Christian God" is a "Western God" or
even a "Product of the Western Imperialism using as a tool for invading
the East". However, if one looks honestly into the course of history, one
would recognize it was this "Christian God"---- Jesus, who has transformed
the entire Western Culture (far from being a product emerging out of the
Western Culture). Afterall, this Jesus is "Eastern in Origin", coming out
of a very unique nation well known as "The Chosen People of God".

At the dawn of the nineteenth century, Christianity did break into Asia, in
particular, our Motherland along with other countries such as India and
Japan. It was true that the Western Imperialism had exploited Christianity
in a certain subtle way for their invasion/expansion, but it is definitely
an gross over-state-ment to equate Christianity with Western Imperialism.

In truth, a lot of missionaries (God's children) have sacrified their lives for
their Love of China and for the other Asian countries. We have
William Carry in India, Judson in Burma and Janes Hudson Taylor in China.
Please listern to the words of Hudson Taylor :

" If I had a thousand Bristish golden pounds, China could take them all.
If I had a thousand lives, I would not spare one not for China".

During the Opium War, Hudson Taylor was among a lot of those missionaries
who protested violently to the policy of the Bristish authorities. His
wife and lovely daughter Grace died in China due to their unadaptation to
the environment, they literally died praying for the People of China

In the event coming up this Saturday, we are not focusing on the events
in the early nineteenth century, instead, we trace all the way back to the
Ancient History of China (long before the nineteenth century). Has God really
been silent to China throughout all those years ? Could we trace His caring
works for China down the course of the history in China ?

You are cordially invited to examine this issue this Saturday, 7 pm at the
DeKalb Chinese Bible Class.
